Tanzanian Peaberry
Harvested on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro near the Kenyan border, this gourmet African coffee displays many of the characteristics of Kenyan coffee, though much lighter in acidity.
Over two million people inhabit the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, taking advantage of the rich volcanic soil for coffee production. Since the climate is ideal for growing coffee, large areas of the rainy slope were converted to coffee plantations. Here, the Tanzanian peaberry coffee bean is wet-processed. And it is on these slopes, under these banana and overstory trees that specialty coffees, like the prized Tanzania Peaberry Coffee, can be grown.
