Hawaiian Kona coffee is one of the most exceptional coffees in the
world. We dare to say, our Hawaiian Kona Cuvee, is even better! Cuvee is
a French word that translates to prestige, deluxe, superior; Kona Cuvee
is all of that and more. This is a medium-roast, five star coffee for
people who truly appreciate exceptional coffee. Hawaiian Kona coffee has
an unmistakable flavor and aroma that surface brilliantly in this
custom blend that features the famous Kona Coffee and includes Central
and South American coffees. It is a well-balanced coffee with medium
body and mild acidity. Cuppers admire its caramel and chocolate notes
while taking notice of a slight nutty flavor as well. You've simply got
to taste it to believe it.
This Cuvee is magnificent to savor, but the Hawaiian coffee tree itself is where the journey began and is also worth noting. This tree puts on a spectacular visual show from February to March, where small white flowers appear, covering the tree and making the plantation look as if it has been covered with a blanket of snow. The locals call this stage the "Kona snow," and it is a spectacular sight. By April, immature green berries have begun to emerge and by August the fruit is ripe and ready for picking.
Each fruit is hand-selected to be picked at its most perfect time. If it's too soon, they'll come back for it another time leaving it on the tree to continue to ripen to perfection. No worries about the time and money of having to make another pass in a few weeks, the quality of the coffee matters that much to the plantation owners. This process all made sense after I learned the state motto, "Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono," which means, "The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness." The Hawaiians live it and we are lucky enough to reap the rewards.
